Three Earth Ages
Church and science have been in a constant debate over the age of the earth and universe. We have two different scientific facts concerning the creation of the universe, Evolution and Creationism. With some of the beliefs that is taught in churches today, there is no wonder the secular world looks at Christians as uneducated idiots. When a Christian stands up and states that this world is only six thousand years old, how can we expect the scientific world to take us seriously? The fact is, God's Word proclaims this world to be billions of years old. It also states that there was an earth age before the one which we now reside and another age is still to come. However, Evolution is not exactly hitting the bulls-eye either. For Evolution to stand-up, it must be an on-going process. We should be able to see this process all around us, some animals should be here that have not evolved as much as some of their counterparts; moreover, the earth should be evolving at least as fast as the extinction rate. The truth is that 90% of all plant and animal life that have ever existed are now extinct. Now let's go to God's Word and document these truths. I would like to start this study with the 104 Psalms.
PSALMS
104:1-2 Bless the LORD, O my soul. O LORD my God, the art very great; thou art clothed with honour and majest: 2 Who coverest thyself with light as with a garment; who stretchest out the heavens like a curtain; |
God is honest and above all, He does what he wants to do. Christ is that covering light and our Father created the heavens.
PSALMS
104:3-4 Who layeth the beams of His chambers in the waters; who maketh the clouds his chariot; who walketh upon the wings of the wind; 4 Who maketh his angels spirits; His ministers a flaming fire; |
The chariots which transported His throne in the first earth age. The fallen angels during the time of Noah may have used these vehicles to come to earth. Angels are God's messengers, they are spirits made as the wind. In Ephesians 1:4, Yahweh shows us the earth age that was, and that you were with him at that time.
PSALMS
104:5 Who laid the foundations of the earth, that it should not be removed forever. |
This goes back billions of years ago. The ages will change, but the earth will last forever.
PSALMS
104:6-7 Thou coveredst it with the deep as with a garment: the waters stood above the mountains. 7 At thy rebuke they fled; at the voice of thy thunder they hasted away. |
Yahweh had created this earth and destroyed it because of the Katabole. The Katabole was the plan of Satan in that earth age to take over the throne of our Father. In the world that was, the dragon used the same political structure that he will use during the tribulation of this age. With God's voice, the waters instantly fled and dry land appeared. This is not Noah's flood, beloved. The waters of Noah's flood did not disappear instantly.
PSALMS
104:8-9 They go up by the mountains; they go down by the valleys unto the place which thou hast founded for them. 9 Thou hast set a bound that they may not pass over, that they turn not again to cover the earth. |
This is the formation of this earth age after the Katabole. Many believe that before the Katabole the earth was one large landmass. Just looking at a globe, one can see how the continents once were fitted together. Later we will see evidence that earth endured a great shaking. This may explain why the north and south poles are 90 miles off their true axis. A shaking so great it divided the continents. We also see God's promise to never destroy the earth by flood again. In II Peter 3, we will see that this book is dedicated to the three earth ages.
II
PETER 3:1 This second epistle, beloved, I now write unto you; in both which I stir up your pure minds by way of remembrance: |
Writing to the same people as in the First Epistle, Peter wants their memory to be shaken all the way back to the world that was, if it were possible. II
PETER
3:2 That ye may be mindful of the words which were spoken before by the holy prophets, and of the commandment of us the apostles of the Lord and Saviour: |
Prophets of old and the Apostles of the New Testament often spoke of this mystery.
II
PETER 3:3-4 Knowing this first, that there shall come in the last days scoffers, walking after their own lusts, 4 And saying, Where is the promise of His coming? for since the fathers fell asleep, all things continue as they were from the beginning of the creation. |
In the end times, there will be people mocking Christian beliefs. They will claim that Jesus will not return, there is no God, and there will be no second advent to bring in the third earth age.
II
PETER 3:5 For this they willingly are ignorant of, that by the word of God the heavens were of old, and the earth standing out of the water and in the water: |
Funny beloved, in this time mankind has made great strides in technology and other advancements, but are totally ignorant of the greatest truth and wisdom. Our Father's Word. They desire to be ignorant of the age before this, people do not want to have knowledge or to be accountable for not knowing God's Word or seeking His Wisdom.
II
PETER 3:6-7 Whereby the world that then was, being overflowed with water, perished: 7 But the heavens and the earth which are now, by the same word are kept in store, reserved unto fire against the day of judgement and perdition of ungodly men. |
Everything in that age perished, unlike the flood of Noah, Noah and his family survived. Also, Noah's flood did not destroy heaven, but the Katabole not only destroyed earth, but that heaven age also.
II
PETER 3:8-9 But, beloved, be not ignorant of this one thing, that one day is with the Lord as a thousand years, and a thousand years as one day. 9 The Lord is not slack concerning His promise, as some men count slackness; but is longsuffering to us-ward, not willing that any should persish, but that all should come to repentance. |
Time is of little importance to our Father, but He keeps His promises and is patient. It was not Yahweh's will for even Satan to perish. Satan chose to perish from pride. Also, God will not force anyone to love Him. It may very likely be that the only thing our Father can not do is make one of His creation love Him. For if He forced us to love Him without free will it would not be true love.
II
PETER 3:10 But the day of the Lord will come as a thief in the night; in which the heavens shall pass away with a great noise, and the elements shall melt with fervent heat; the earth also and the works that are therein, shall be burned up. |
When Messiah comes for the second advent, the world will be surprised for they were not ready for Him and did not believe He would return. Notice that heavens is plural used here, the Greek means "that was, that is and that which shall come." Yahweh is that fervent heat and He will burn up the evil rudiments here on earth, destroying only the evil that is here not the earth.
II
PETER 3:11 Seeing then that these things shall be dissolved, what manner of persons ought ye to be in all holy conversation and godliness; |
When Christ returns, wickedness will be gone and you should be preparing yourself for these things to come to pass.
II
PETER 3:12 Looking for and hasting unto the coming of the day of God, wherein the heavens, being on fire, shall be dissolved, and the elements shall melt fervent heat? |
In Hebrew 12:29, we see our God is a consuming fire and He is that fervent heat. The Greek word for "elements" is (4747) "stoichelon" which means "evil rudiments." God will rid the earth of "evil rudiments."
II
PETER 3:13 Nevertheless we, according to His promise, look for new heavens and a new earth, wherein dwelleth righteousness. |
Once again, we see that the earth will be rejuvenated, not destroyed.
II
PETER 3:14-16 Wherefore, beloved, seeing that ye look for such things, be diligent that ye may be found of Him in peace, without spot, and blameless. 15 And account that the longsuffering of our Lord is salvation; even as our beloved brother Paul also, according to the wisdom given unto him, hath written unto you; 16 As also in all his epistles, speaking in them of these things; in which are some things hard to be understood, which they that are unlearned and unstable wrest, as they do also the other scriptures, unto their own destruction. |
It is your responsibility to know our Father's Word. God is willing to be patient and let each person decide to love Him or Satan. Paul taught on three levels and many do not understand or cannot handle the scriptures.
II
PETER 3:17 Ye therefore, beloved, seeing ye know these things before, beware lest ye also, being led away with the error of the wicked, fall from your own stedfastness. |
See to it that you are not deceived.
II
PETER 3:18 But grow in grace, and in the knowledge of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ. To him be glory, both now and for ever. Amen. |
Grace is a gift of unmerited favor. There will always be a heaven and an earth. God's throne is now in heaven, but it will come to earth as stated in Revelation 21:2-5. Now beloved, let us turn to the book of Genesis, all the way back to the beginning.
GENESIS
1:1 In the beginning God created the heaven and the earth. |
Keep the words of Peter in mind. The Bible clearly does not say when or how. Only that God created the heaven and the earth.
GENESIS
1:2 And the earth was without form, and void; and darkness was upon the face of the deep. And the Spirit of God moved upon the face of the waters. |
For those of you with a Strong's look up the word "void" used here. You will find it is the Hebrew word (8414) "tohuw". I want you to keep this word "tohuw" in mind. Its meaning is "to lie to waste, absolutely destroyed." Also the word "was" in the Hebrew would be better translated as "became." So we see the earth was created and became absolutely destroyed. In chapter eight of Proverbs, Christ is showing He was with God during the destruction of that earth age. In Ezekiel 28, we see Satan's pride and his proclaiming to be god, thus bringing the end to that age. Death entered earth with Satan's fall in the age that was. Most Christians only focus on this earth age, not listening to God's Word that this earth is billions of years old, not a mere six thousand. Let's turn to Jeremiah chapter four.
JEREMIAH
4:19-20 My bowels, my bowels! I am pained at my very heart; my heart maketh a noise in me: I cannot hold my peace, because thou hast heard, O my soul, the sound of the trumpet, the alarm of war. 20 Destruction upon destruction is cried: for the whole land is spoiled: suddenly are my tents spoiled, and my curtains in a moment. |
Here we see God warning Israel that He destroyed the earth once and will do it again.
JEREMIAH
4:21-22 How long shall I see the standard, and hear the sound of the trumpet? 22 For my people is sottish children, not known me; they are sottish children, and they have none understanding: they are wise to do evil, but to do good they have no knowledge. |
Jesus is the standard. The word "sottish" would be better translated as "stupid." God is saying His children are stupid for not knowing His Word.
JEREMIAH
4:23 I beheld the earth, and, lo, it was without form and void; and the heavens, and they had no light. |
Once again, we see the Hebrew word "tohuw" translated as "void."
JEREMIAH
4:24 I beheld the mountains, and lo, they trembled, and all the hills moved lightly. |
Here we see the shaking that I had mentioned earlier. The very shaking that may have moved the earth off its axis. A shaking that may have caused the very plates of the continents to move.
JEREMIAH
4:25-26 I beheld, and, lo, there was no man, and all the birds of the heavens were fled. 26 I beheld, and, lo, the fruitful place was a wilderness, and all the cities thereof were broken down at the presence of the LORD, and by His fierce anger. |
Yahweh is saying that He seen the destruction with His own eyes. No man made it through this, nor any living thing. This is not Noah's flood, the dove brought Noah a twigged olive branch during that flood. Here we see not even a tree was left standing, and yes even cities were completely destroyed.
JEREMIAH
4:27 For thus hath the LORD said, The whole land shall be desolate: yet will I not make a full end. |
Our Father chose to destroy that earth age because of the Katabole. He did not destroy His children. He gave us this earth age to make a decision to love Him or Satan.
JEREMIAH
4:28 For this shall the earth mourn, and the heavens above be black: because I have spoken it, I have purposed it, and will not repent, neither will I turn back from it. |
God will destroy this earth age and will not feel sorrow for its destruction. The Hebrew manuscripts proclaim, in the beginning God created the heaven and the earth and God destroyed it with a great shaking. God did not create the earth to be void. He created it to be inhabited, nor did God create the earth to be a wasteland. Proverbs chapter eight and Isaiah 45:18 shows the importance of wisdom. To conclude this study, let's look at the 38th chapter of Job. Here Yahweh reveals to us how little we truly know.
JOB
38:1-3 Then the LORD answered Job out of the whirlwind, and said, 2 Who is this that darkeneth counsel by words without knowledge? 3 Gird up now thy loins like a man; for I will demand of thee, and answer thou me. |
After 38 chapters of men yakking, God finally speaks. He is asking Job, "Why are you listening to these idiots?" They have no understanding or wisdom. Yahweh is telling Job to stand up like a man and answer Me.
JOB
38:4-6 Where wast thou when I laid the foundations of the earth? declare, if thou hast understanding. 5 Who hath laid the measures thereof, if thou knowest? or who hath stretched the line upon it? 6 Whereupon are the foundations thereof fastened? or who laid the corner stone therof; |
If you are so wise Job, where were you when I created the earth? Answer the question! Who set the earth in its orbit and what holds it in its place?
JOB
38:7 When the morning stars sang together, and all the sons of God shouted for joy? |
There was a time when all the sons of God sang together in total harmony and peace of mind. Satan too was created as His son, and he was also one of those that sang with joy.
JOB
38:8-11 Or who shut up the sea with doors, when it brake forth as if it had issued out of the womb? 9 When I made the cloud the garment therof, and thick darkness a swaddlingband for it, 10 And brake up for it my decreed place, and set bars and doors, 11 And said, hitherto shalt thou come but no further: and here shall thy proud waves be stayed? |
Job, if you're so wise, who holds the oceans in their place? Who caused the earth to be destroyed with water? God had even chosen His own place on earth, Mt. Zion.
JOB
38:12 Hast thou commanded the morning since thy days; and caused the dayspring to know his place; |
God is asking Job, do you command the sun to rise and set? Did you put time in its proper place?
JOB
38:13 That it might take hold of the ends of the earth, that the wicked might be shaken out of it? |
Job, can you shake the wicked out of the earth? Yahweh can. He has done it before and He will do it again.
JOB
38:14 It is turned as clay to the seal, and they stand as a garment. Job, can you make a man out of clay? |
